Reset user
To reset a user account, you must have the May reset passwords and disable accounts or the May add and edit (other) users role assigned to your account. At least two people at the site should have the ability to disable accounts or reset passwords. You cannot disable or reset your own account from within Connect User Management. Admin users with the May add and edit (other) users role can reset and disable another admin user's account. Non-admin users with the May reset passwords and disable accounts role can reset the admin user's account, but they cannot disable the admin user's account.

Note Admin users with the May add and edit (other) users role may reset another admin user at their site. Users that administer affiliate sites may reset all admin users with the May add and edit (other) users role at the affiliate site. |
Resetting a user account clears out the existing security questions and password configured for the user. A Connect Password Reset email is generated by the system and is sent to the user's email address specified in their personal information. Users must select their security questions and set a new password to log in to any of the Pearson VUE Testing System applications.
There are several scenarios that require you to reset a user's account.
- Users forget their password or username.
- Users have already changed their password three times in the past 24 hours and they cannot remember the new password.
- You must enable a disabled user account
Note All active or pending users can manually unlock their account and reset their security questions and password by using the I forgot my password or username links on the Connect login page. |
Follow these steps to reset a user account:
- Locate the desired user in the list on the Users page.
- Select the View button for the user. The user account page is displayed and a message at the top of the page notifies you that the account is disabled. The Account disabled date field identifies the date in which the account was disabled. The Disable button does not appear on the user account page for users that have been disabled.
- Select the Reset button at the top of the page.
- Select Yes to confirm you want to reset the user's account.
- A message confirms the user's account was successfully reset and the Disable button now appears at the top of the page.
- Select the Users button at the top of the page or select the Done button at the bottom of the page to return to the Users page. The user's account status is changed to Reset in the User's list.
- See the User Activates Reset Account topic for details on re-activating an existing user account.
